Good read. Reality often doesn't match the myths and images people like to pass around for convenience.

That said, here's a declaration: I prefer bara to generic yaoi.
(Just because the guys are more masculine. :P)

And some rambling about my viewpoints, yet again.

Quite a few years ago, I was introduced to hentai/yuri/yaoi manga. I have never really denied or confirmed my interest in it, mainly because I don't know what the hell people are assuming, thinking or attaching to me when I finally make a statement. When I make a statement, two developments unfold:

If I deny
- "Really meh?"
- "Don't bluff! I've seen traces of such interest all over your blog!"

Well, so what's the point in denying? Which leads me to the next point...

If I confirm
- "I knew it!" (so, you're asking for what?)
- "You're sick..." (...I don't know why I'm considered sick for this when there are sex shops in the open, condoms for sale, and the highlighted feature of said material is something people go through for procreation...and no I'm not being microscopic when I don't mention that the material is supposed to appeal to fantasies but well, perception is in the mind)
- "You like yaoi too?" (no, please don't say 'too', because I'm not crazy about females in male bodies and I can bet you that the jokes I use to thrash yaoi is going to ruin your experience with yaoi, that I can promise you)
- "Didn't know you were such a person..." (what does "such" a person mean?)
- "So you're a yaoi fan girl?" (please let me know what your impression exactly is, because I don't want people feeding me pointless yaoi titles)
- etc etc

So what exactly is my stand...

Considering I put an entire page dedicated to my viewpoint of XXX, obviously I'm interested in it, right??? Just not in the sense that is properly understood. So don't really understand people who react like I just contracted some form of HIV.

A bit tired of people not taking me as is and attributing very strange things when I declare my interests. Now, I have a nagging suspicion that if I said I'm interested in bara, I'm going to have more accusers. ("You're sick!" "You're just trying to show how different your taste is, right?" "Wow, okay, who cares if you like bara?" etc etc)

Irritating.
