After one whole month of not updating my blog...I end up updating at Japan!
I'm now at the Shinagawa-shuku, using the internet for 100円. Unlike the last time I went Japan, it's an unlimited period of time xD (the previous one, I paid the computer money like using a public telephone every 10 minutes...).
Here's what happened so far!
We took the 6.10am flight on Delta airline, and man, I think I'm going to take Delta flights from now on. Their safety procedure video is damn farnie hahaha. I slept for maybe an hour or two before my mother told me Kaiji was selectable on the video list! So I didn't sleep much. Kept rewinding the video to watch the final game xD
In case you're wondering what Kaiji is, it's acted by Fujiwara Tetsuya (Raitor in Deathnote), about how a typical lazy slug gets thrown into a sudden debt due to a set up and ends up having to pay it via gambles. The story's pretty straightforward, and the idea behind is practically literal. Seems to be adapted based on a manga/anime. Before I digress this into some kind of Kaiji review, let's just say I like it very much because of Fujiwara's dramatic characterization.
We reached Narita airport at 1.30pm (JP time). Then we bought a ticket to take the Keisei Line from the airport all the way to Ueno.
Can so picture Japanese little boys dreaming to become a train operator in the future... Damn cool leh. They stand at the door, blow a whistle and then the train takes off with the door open xD ...then the reality is, they say the same thing every damn day.
We reached Ueno at about 4+pm, and then changed to JR Line, heading to Shinagawa. Got some pretty interesting ads on their in-train screens.
Thus began our 12min-transformed-to-2hr walk to our seemingly non existent hostel. We were looking for Takanawa West Exit. We came out, followed the directions, got some help from strangers and still could not find it even at 6+pm. Check in time was 4pm. -.- Even taxi drivers had no idea where it was...
We met a guy from China at Lawson Station though (convenient store). We thought he was Japanese until I spoke Chinese xD He even tried to give us 1,300yen to take cab to the place just because he felt bad he didn't know where it was *__* but no lah, didn't take it. How can??
Some random Japanese guy whom my mother decided to greet with a Hello responded with, "英語しゃべれない"... ...
...In the end, sis gave a call to the hostel and as it turned out, we were walking reverse direction from the hostel. -_- He came out to greet us at some point and then we realized we were horribly off track.
I feel like continuing my story but it's gonna be a wall of text and a wall of droning... Like how Japanese dogs look surprisingly blur and how the Japanese bathrooms seriously make you feel Japanese hahahaa. But my fingers are freezing... Keyboard feels hard.
BUT I SHALL PERSEVERE!?
Our dinner was some bento cuz Familymart was just beside us and the whole damn street was literally deadman street. Nothing to eat. So we experimented with the hostel microwave and blew up my bento cover =_= hamtaming mother + unfamiliar things = no no.
It was pretty cool; 1st floor = check in area, internet and microwave.
2nd floor = our room, public toilet.
3rd floor = female only toilet.
basement = bathroom
Actually from floor 1 - 3, all the toilets are public toilets... The female only one is cuz the urinal is out of order = _= As for bathrooms, there's A and B, traditional and modern style. I went for B. My sis went for A.
But I didn't go and bathe... After dinner, I went to sleep, and it was only 8+... I woke up at 11+, stared for a while before I went to sleep again. Didn't get up until 5am xD Went to bathe, came back, played some DS, ate cup noodles, and then erh...went to sleep until 12+. Haaahaha. Went out for lunch only at 1.30pm -.-
The room's a square room with a small table and 4 tatamis, with a lengthy plank on the wall and hangers below it. Damn simple and nice. Can start sewing socks in it xD
Lunch was at Go-go-curry. 550yen to eat curry rice with no meat...ok.... Walked around at Takanawa Wing, wandered around, and now we're back at Shinagawa-shuku. My fingers...are freezing. (why am I saying that??!!)
And now we're doing last minute searches on where to live for the next few days. You know, it's kinda stunning that initially we even got our flight date wrong. Now that we're here, my sis told me last night that our lodging is confirmed only for 4-5 apr, and 11-18 apr. The period in between is a friggin void. And you'd wonder why we didn't bring sleeping bags to join the ah pek we saw sleeping in a mini hut in some random street today? So we decided, Kyoto is a nice place to stay! Then realise there's no room for apr 6 night. Got the current hostel guy to help, and he managed to book one room at a sister hostel down the street. Then we bravely did online bookings from 7-10 apr at Kyoto ryokan. Then we went ahead to look for transport...and realize we have to cancel one night at Kyoto cuz the trip to Kyoto is overnight. And we somehow didn't even think about how to come back to Tokyo after that.... And now my mother is chasing us to go eat dinner while our transport problem is still hanging in the air.
If I don't blog anymore, there are only a few possibilities...
1. No internet access
2. We died freezing on the streets
Pray it's not the latter... Time to eat! No updates until I pay 100yen next time xD
OMG!
